Miss Florida 2009 Rachael Todd Visits CPH,
August 7, 2009
The current Miss Florida, Rachael Todd held a special visit
with our children on August 7th. She offered, and we accepted. In her
words, “it was absolutely amazing”. As for us, we were thrilled. Rachael
spent several hours in our Family Resource Center where children are
helped with their homework and participate in group learning activities.
Rachael read to the children, autographed photos and spoke
inspirationally about the importance of believing in oneself and focusing on
educational goals.
Rachael is very concerned about the issue of homelessness and frequently
speaks to groups regarding this growing problem. Several years ago Rachael’s
mother founded the HOPE Foundation in Oviedo, Florida, an agency that
provides Housing, Outreach, Prevention and Education for the homeless.
Rachael found her passion through working with the HOPE Foundation and is
committed to changing the way Americans view and deal with the issue of
Homelessness. In August 2009, she served as a delegate to the National
Conference on Ending Homelessness in Washington D.C. She has associated with
the National Coalition for the Homeless and the National Alliance to End
Homelessness and is committed to increasing awareness about their missions
and solutions in this challenging, yet possible, endeavor.
We are deeply appreciative of her time and efforts to bring her message
of hope to our children. Our staff enjoyed meeting her as well and we look
forward to working with her again soon.
